The St. Joan of Arc Secondary School Speech Day 2017-2018 was successfully held on Saturday, 2nd June 2018. The ceremony began with an impressive video entitled “2017-2018 in Retrospect”, which recapitulated a series of memoirs of this school year, such as the fruitful development of e-learning and school-based STEAM Education, the meaningful students’ voluntary work for the community and hearty sport events. In the opening prayer, our Supervisor, Mr. Santiago Chuen Kwok Wai thanked the Lord for the abundant year.  He further shared with guests, parents and students that St. Joanians will continue to shine in their academic work, be keen in exchange programmes, and expand their horizons through active participation in extra-curricular activities.  Improvement in the quality of teaching and learning is always the goal of the school in order to nurture St. Joanians to become knowledgeable and virtuous citizens. Professor Jim Chi Yung, Chair Professor of Geography at the University of Hong Kong, was honourably invited as the Guest of Honour in this memorable ceremony. In his commencement address to the graduates, he explained the benefits of studying and the enjoyment of it. He encouraged all students to read widely and extensively, to make good use of libraries and the Internet for research, to acquire generic and language skills as far as possible to pave the way for their future careers. Professor Jim also inspired St. Joanians to try every possible way to develop various interests and to dream big. Prompting them to treasure friendship, he assured all graduates that they will benefit immensely from self-learning and life-long learning. After the vote of thanks delivered by Chung Siu Foo (S.6 Faith), as well as the presentation of souvenirs to the Guest of Honour, a video shot by the graduates about school life and friendship was shown. The ceremony came to a memorable close with the singing of the School Song.
