This year's Sports Days were held in the Aberdeen Sports Ground from 30th to 31st October, 2023. Filled with an energetic but orderly audience, the long-awaited athletics' meet kicked off after solemn moments of flag-raising ceremony, morning prayers and school song singing.
While passionate athletes actively participated in the track and field events, cheering members from St. Raphael, St. Michael and St. Gabriel houses gave full support to their counterparts with tireless efforts. From hurdles, sprinting, to relays and high jump, long jump to short put, the entire sports ground was enchanted with true sportsmanship, house spirit and most importantly the true meaning of 'Justice'.
Not only did the hard work of all the participants paid off, fairness, leadership and genuine school spirit could be felt in every corner. The rapport among teachers and students, among students in various classes, and among students in various houses, was unbelievably heartwarming. Trustworthy student helpers did their chores with high efficiency while teachers took pride to see how students helped one another without hesitation, facilitating the smooth functioning of all events.
Everyone wished that there would be no end to all the excitement and applause, especially during the finals held on 31st October. The sunny weather resonated well with the strong St. Joanian spirit of love and family. After a host of final races from 5000 metres to Interhouse relays, the day almost came to an end with the boys' and girls' primary schools 4 X 100 metres invitation relays and the irresistible Teacher-student Interhouse relay. All were privileged to witness how our fearless and talented primary athletes shone in the tracks, as though they had already been part of our family.
Our enjoyable days of fun and excitement finally came to an end after the prize presentation ceremony, led by the Chairperson of our Parent-Teacher Association, Ms. Ip Wai Fan. Lastly, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Choy May Yee, Florence, SJA IMC SSB Manager, our closing ceremony officiating guest. Thank-you once again, Ms. Choy, for your sincere encouragement to all students in recognition for their accomplishments in this year's Sports Days. Without doubt, the positivity would continue to flourish, especially in our upcoming First Exam!
