New Zealand Study Tour 2010

On 15th July 2010, 105 eager students from over 15 Catholic schools from the territory, met at the Hong Kong International Airport to begin their 17 day study tour journey to New Zealand. Four Form 1 students, 2 Form 2 students and 4 Form 3 students from St Joan of Arc were part of the group.
During the study tour, students were given the opportunity to live with home-stay families, attend English lessons and normal lessons with their New Zealand buddies. At their home-stay families, students were immersed in an English speaking environment and were expected to become one of the family members which meant that they would be responsible for helping around the house doing chores such as setting the table before dinner and so on. At school, they attended English lessons in the mornings and other main stream lessons in the afternoon giving them an opportunity to practice their English and also experience a school life in New Zealand.

Another aspect of the study tour was sightseeing. Students were taken to various spots of interest which introduced them to the landscape of New Zealand, the culture of the Maori people and the wildlife of New Zealand.
