Promote Reading Culture 4.23 Hong Kong Reading for All Day Activities

2025-04-23 (Wednesday)
Category : Reading to Learn

In conjunction with the "Hong Kong Reading for All Day" on April 23, our school library will hold different types of activities to encourage students to read, expand their knowledge, and enjoy the fun of reading.

  1. Morning assembly sharing
    • 3 librarians: EVANGELISTA SHYNE(1Fa), LI SUM YING(5Ho) and CHAN LOK YEE JOY (5Ho), shared information on "Hong Kong National Reading Day" and their reading experiences.
  2. Participate in the “2025 Hong Kong Reading for All Day - ‘Read Thousands of Books and Travel Thousands of Miles’ Reading Sharing Session and Primary and Secondary School Joint Reading Half Hour” activity organised by the Education Bureau.
  3. Book recommendations and book report activities:
    • The library displays book recommendations for students' reference and borrowing. After students write a book report and receive corrections from the teacher, those who meet the standard will receive a souvenir to encourage reading.
  4. Book Drifting activity
    • Book drifting originated in Europe in the 1960s. It means that citizens place books after reading in public places, such as on benches in parks, and provide them free of charge for others to pick up and read. After reading, then put the books in other public places in the same way, so that the books can continue to float so that more people can read them. This method is not only environmentally friendly, makes books widely circulated, but also encourages reading. The library places canceled old books and magazines in the "Book Drifting Corner" outside the library door, allow students to read freely, so that books can meet more friends.
  5. Visit Eslite Bookstore for guided tours and student book-buying tours
    • Our school's Reading Promotion Team led students to visit the Eslite Bookstore in Causeway Bay and held a guided tour on 6 May (Tuesday) to promote reading and broaden students' reading horizons. The bookstore manager explained in detail the daily operations of the bookstore. In addition, students also purchased new books for the library.
